Many thanks to all of the members who were able to attend this year’s Annual General Meeting. While these occasions can be a little on the dry side, this year’s was warm introduction for me as a still relative newcomer to the Book Council. Coupling our annual governance meeting with readings from authors as extraordinary as Elizabeth Knox and Geoff Cochrane is an important reminder that what binds us together as an organization is a love of the written word and commitment to supporting and promoting the literary arts in New Zealand.
