Join us and support New Zealand writing

Your membership of the Book Council supports New Zealand writers and writing. It helps us deliver our programmes to 750 schools and to diverse communities throughout New Zealand. It also supports our work developing audiences for New Zealand writers here and overseas.
 
In return for your support, members receive a number of benefits. These include:

• Advance notice of upcoming Book Council events and reduced tickets for you and a friend to any of our events
• A free copy of our quarterly magazine, Booknotes  – news, interviews and children’s book reviews
• Great discounts at selected bookstores and professional theatres (this does not apply to school members)
• Discounted prices on our Literary Pin-ups poster series
• A monthly email newsletter from the Book Council with book news, updates on Book Council activities and book competitions
• A 10% discount on accommodation at the Booklovers Bed and Breakfast, Wellington.

Our online membership service has been ceased. This part of the site is under construction.

There are several different types of membership available. These are:

Concessions  (senior citizens, unwaged) $40
Students  $30
Schools  $75                                                                 
Book groups $100
Small organisations and libraries  $100
Corporates  $300

Subscribe to New Zealand Books for an additional $40 ($30 if you’re a student) for in-depth reviews on the latest New Zealand publications.
